Adobe Creative Cloud: What's In Store for 2019?

Church Production Magazine: Adobe kicked off the NAB conference with the announcement of the new 2019 version of their industry-standard Creative Cloud suite of software products for media creation. The new updates put a heavy emphasis on improving in the performance and stability side of the platform, with significant boosts promised for professionals utilizing high-end workstations.

The Adobe Creative Cloud suite is incredibly useful! With their student plan, I get access to their full suite of software, 20gb of cloud storage, access to their stock, font, and image libraries, and use of their portfolio site. I make use of their software almost every day. I draw up designs and paperwork templates in Illustrator, edit and store photos with Lightroom, maintain my resume in InDesign, and use their MyPortfolio site for my professional portfolio. While I personally dislike the subscription style that Adobe moved to after the CS6 suite, I do appreciate the benefits of having constant updates and new features added periodically to my programs. Unlike AutoCAD, I don't have to download the new version of the software each year- The software is just gets an update and suddenly I'll have a snazzy new interface, performance optimizations, and new tools to play with! In my opinion, though, I find it frustrating that Adobe doesn't have too many major competitors. Sure, there are some free alternatives, but nothing I have used really comes close to the Adobe version of the software in question. As a result, Adobe has a large amount of influence over the media creation industry without the threat of competition, so there's no real drive for them to continue improving besides staying ahead of everyone else.
