The first design portfolio that’s ever made me laugh

www.fastcompany.com: These days, most design portfolios have an air of sameness to them–like clone-stamp copies of one another. It’s something Argentinian designer and illustrator Mariano Pascual wanted to change.

Omg, I am SO happy I went digging for a news article and found this treasure. This is my favorite thing ever, and has officially been bookmarked on my browser. This is absolutely my exact kind of design aesthetic, and it's been so hard to get it out of my mind and onto a screen to show people what I want to learn to do (you know, since I don't exactly yet have the skills to be able to create these visions). I absolutely love the quirkiness and playfulness of designs in this portfolio. I cannot get over the crude ad pop-ups from the second clip. I also really loved this quote: "But then again, a portfolio shouldn’t just woo the companies thinking about hiring you. It should filter out the people you’d never want to work for in the first place." This is another frequent thought I've never quite been able to put into words. Be your unapologetic self in your designs even if you're scared it'll put off potential employers. Why would you want to work for a company that doesn't like your aesthetic and vision? I seriously seriously cannot wait to one day create quirky designs like this, once I take some electives to learn, of course.
