Intel drones help Travis Air Force Bay provide fireworks alternative for special needs military families

InPark Magazine: Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, collaborated with Intel to replace a traditional Independence Day fireworks display with an Intel® Shooting Star™ drone light show. In celebration of July Fourth and Travis Air Force Base’s 75th anniversary, 500 Intel Shooting Star drones danced across the nighttime sky in a choreographed aerial routine that honors active military and veterans.

I have seen drone demonstrations like this on youtube, but I never thought they could replace fireworks. However, in this demonstration, Intel partnered with an air force base in California to provide a fourth of July celebration for veterans. This is so cool! Using drones is a much safer way to celebrate because it lowers the potential of starting a fire and getting burned. The article said that it was also a much quieter than the loud booming noises of fireworks that could sound like artillery fire and bring back unpleasant memories for some veterans. Unfortunately, the might be even more likely to be postponed than fireworks because the drone performance had to be rescheduled due to high wind speeds.
