James Franco's alleged inappropriate behavior is subject of LA Times report

Business Insider: On Thursday, the Los Angeles Times published a report detailing five accusations of "inappropriate or sexually exploitative behavior" against actor James Franco.

After Franco won a Golden Globe award for his performance in "The Disaster Artist" on Sunday night, he was criticized on social media for showing solidarity with victims of sexual misconduct by wearing a Time's Up pin. Franco was also accused of sexual misconduct himself by several women on Twitter.

Another day and another major male celebrity is accused of sexual misconduct. While this claim is currently unsubstantiated with no evidence and Franco has denied the claim, given the recent revelations about men in Hollywood it unfortunately seems par for the course. Whether or not this happened is yet to be proven; however, it is clear that this issue is pervasive in the culture of Hollywood. If this claim is true, while this is perhaps not a severe transgression as Harvey Weinstein or Kevin Spacey, it should rightfully tarnish Mr. Franco‘s reputation. The bigger issue is that this industry is built on relationships, and subsequently women can feel pressured that behaving in certain ways will enhance their chances of receiving a roll from a powerful male actor, director or casting director. Women should feel free to engage in business in the workplace without fear of being sexaully harrassed or assaulted, and unfortunately as things stand, the pervasive culture of Hollywood Sexual Assault does not allow for that to happen.
