PigPen troupe of CMU grads brings unique brand of music, magic to South Side

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: It was freshman year when seven Carnegie Mellon School of Drama students gathered to figure out how they might tell a compelling ghost story. They had a week before they would present that show to their peers in a festival called Playground — and they have been playing together ever since.

The PigPen group is really a great example of how CMU and Playground specifically can bring about lifelong passions in students through collaboration and innovation. It's really amazing to see a group that began here come back as a fully established theater troupe, and it really encourages me to collaborate more with my fellow students, as I could end up working with them for the rest of my life for all I know. In any case, even though I've been awfully busy other final projects and rounding out the semester, I'm extremely excited to get into Playground and really work with my classmates to make some theater. It feels like it's been too long since I've had the chance to design a show and work with a group of people to make something come together, and stories such as this one only make me more excited to get started!
