’42nd Street’ revivals may duke it out for a spot on Broadway

New York Post: Call it the battle of those dancing feet: Two acclaimed productions of “42nd Street” may soon go tap-to-tap for a shot at Broadway.

The splashy revival at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane won raves from everyone, including the Duchess of Cambridge. At least, Kate Middleton seemed to have a jolly time in the Royal Box on opening night.

I am extremely excited to hear that 42nd street is being revived and might have a chance on Broadway. I cannot wait to see it. I grew up watching the movie and being completely engulfed in the set changes, the rehearsals, the drama of the theater world. That movie is one of my earliest childhood memories. I also cannot wait to see what changes the director has in store. The article says that he plans to give the show a more modern twist with jazz, rock and roll, and a “gritty” feel. Though I remember falling in love with the elegant costumes and flashing lights, I am inspired by the idea of a modern twist of this show. It is also interesting to hear about the creators process as they travel around researching how other productions have put on 42nd Street, to get inspired but also to acknowledge the revivals happening around the world
