I'm glad that art is being added to the S.T.E.M. initiative! It's important for students to be able to exercise creativity while learning more uniform subjects (such as math and science). I think that having added flexibility to be creative really does help students, especially young ones, to understand concepts they find difficult because it allows them to put their own ideas into doing their work. On top of that, it gets students more involved in their work, which often increases their passion for it.
I personally participated in a S.T.E.A.M. initiative program last year, and I found that working in a creative, collaborative environment was incredibly beneficial to my focus, inspiration, and passion for learning.
