autodesk.blogs.com: AutoCAD 2017 has added the ability to import a PDF as vector objects and not just as a raster PDF underlay added back in AutoCAD 2007. Customers have been asking for a longtime for this feature but there has been concerns since published data can have inherent inaccurate scales and a few other issues. Autodesk chose to look at the requests from customers in order to define the needs and took a couple years in development.

This is a total game changer for AutoCAD and the computer drafting world! PDF documents are my far the best form of digital document out there. I say this because anybody can open it on basically any device, and see things exactly the same way. This new feature in AutoCAD of being able to import a PDF document as a vector is totally going to change the way that people are able to collaborate with the software. This is because I’ll be able to design or draft something off site in a software that I am familiar with, and then someone else can import a PDF of my work and continue to work on it. Like many new software features it will probably take some time for people to figure out how exactly this feature works, and AutoCAD will have to work out some of the bugs. However, once this is all done it will be revolutionary.
