To me, it seems a little strange to be writing a comic book about something as far out there as technical theater. It's not exactly that "super." Techies aren't super heroes (most of the time) nor are we that exciting that someone has to write a book on it. However, I find it interesting that the author chose to use us as a theme for their book. I'm sure at times we can be pretty exciting while working with machinery, high tech equipment, and forming the illusion that we are invisible all for the purposes of making art. If anything, this book can inspire kids who love theater but not acting nor directing to try another aspect of it. If anything, it can inspire people of all ages to pay attention to not just the set, lights, music, and cast but to think about all the people backstage who made that happen.

I might be wrong but I think that the concept is somewhat branded already by the infamous online comic strip- Q2Q. The sentiment put forth by both of the co-writers of the book is heartfelt. I can relate to the group of people that they were mentioning. Obviously going through and being introduced to the role of a backstage crew member during high school is unique. I don’t know how successful this could be as a series. If anything- I would expect this to mimic Q2Q in the way that they make fun of certain elements of the production or the production process. Like Mark said- I don’t really know how broad of an audience is going to pick up on this, I can only imagine that it would be appealing to the people that actually went through it themselves or are currently going through it. Who knows, maybe it will inspire people to join the crew.
