As a huge Harry Potter, I'm so excited about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I'm begging for it to come to America soon, but I also am blessed and I get to go to England most years to visit my family, so if it doesn't come across the pond for a few years I still might get the opportunity to see it. I'm super excited about the new casting, especially Hermione. I'm glad that a character so established in the media is being re-envisioned in a more diverse setting. I know making Hermione a black woman was quite a controversial decision, and I do LOVE Emma Watson, but I think this choice has really broadened the world of the Harry Potter fandom, which is fantastic when you look at the sheer size of the fandom. I think it's really funny that the use of live owls had to be cut after one escaped. I hope he's having a great time flying around London.

I have been an absolutely huge Harry Potter fan ever since I read all of J.K. Rowling's series in the third grade, and when I heard that someone was making a piece of theatre to go along with the whole wizarding world, I could not have been more excited. I was also a little nervous though, because I think that one of the things I loved most about the books was how imaginative you could be when thinking about how Harry Potter's world would look visually, and what made (most of) the movies so great was how magical they were with all the special effects, etc., all qualities that are really hard to put on stage. However, reading this article made me really happy because it looks like all of the reviews have been fantastic, and now all I need to do is beg for it to come to the U.S. or take a trip to London to see it! I also think the way the group handled the whole controversy of the new casting of Hermione Granger as a black woman was very gracious, and I think that it is really good that they put the play in a more diverse and realistic setting with a more diverse cast. I am really glad that everyone who has been a fan of the Harry Potter books and films is getting to be more introduced to the world of theatre and a broader imagination of what each character can look and be like.

When I found out about J.K. Rowling writing a stage play, I was beyond excited. Her work in all genres is amazing, and so visual, that I was just waiting for her to actually write something to theater. To the point of whether or not there will be a movie version of the play, I think that there will be one, but in many years. The plays that we know that were turned into film were on Broadway for years before they became movies. I think before people start asking about a movie, the show should be on stage for a while, so that we can get to full effect of what J.K Rowling wrote. There was some fuss because in the play, the person playing Hermione is black. I think that many people expected the cast of this play to be the same as the movies, but it is a different show. Personally, I would love to see this show, but I would not only have to find tickets, but I would also have to figure out a way to get to London. I cannot wait until we start hearing reviews about the show from the general public.

I just bought the script! I’m insanely excited for this chapter of Harry Potter. It’s well deserved by fans across the world. The thing that gives me chills though, is the fact that it’s nineteen years later, which is the epilogue of the 7th Harry Potter book, and released on Harry’s birthday. Everything comes around, right? I remember after the deathly hallows people wondering whether JK Rowling was going to write another book nineteen years later, and here it is. I so wish I could go see it, but London is far away, and my parents would never let me go. So alas, me and a billion other people are waiting for it to come to broadway. I love the fact that it won’t ever become a movie, because movies are always worse in comparison to the books. I love that critics love it, which means it won’t be going away anytime soon. I also think it’s so cool that things like Harry Potter are a thing again, it gives older people a chance to be kids again.

I’m really excited to read the script. The potter franchise has been a part of my generation’s childhood basically our whole lives. We can make Harry Potter references in a room full of people and there is a big chance that everyone will get it. This series has mesmerized people because of its lovable and relatable character, interesting plot, and just overall inspiring story. Now that it is a stage play it has the possibility of bring this phenomenon to a whole new audience and bringing a whole new audience to theater. This show could give a theater goer exposure to a part of the Harry Potter stories if they haven’t already been exposed to them, but honestly who doesn’t know Harry Potter. The bigger impact might be that this show could bring a larger audience to seats in the theater. People who aren’t exposed to theater, but love the series will be dying to go see the show and therefor giving these new audience members a taste of the art of theater.
