Behold the World's Most Famous Eyewear

Daily Infographic: Before you enlarge the image, see how many pairs of specs you can match with the person or personality who wore them. How many did you get right? I didn’t fare too well, but at least I got Elton John, Geordi LaForge, and Cyclops. Those would have been embarrassing to miss. I didn’t guess Mr. Peanut and, appropriately, Waldo completely escaped me.

I personally don’t wear glasses, but I do agree that they are an accessory. The way they organized the infographic, in the eye test manner, was very clever. I, personally didn’t get that many of the glasses either. The only ones I knew were Harry Potter, Cyclops, Lady Gaga, and Napoleon Dynamite. I thought Edna Mode from The Incredibles would be on the infographic, but I guess those glasses didn’t make the most well known list. It’s interesting to zoom in a lot, and then zoom out and see the full picture. When I think of glasses, I don’t think of a spectrum this broad. I normally just think of my dad’s glasses, which are pretty mainstream, rather than all these different types. When one gets the whole picture, you see just how many there are. There isn’t one type of glasses. It’s kind of like people, in a way, there isn’t just one kind of person, everyone’s different, and in this case, we see that all glasses are different.

I have worn glasses for a long as I can remember. Whenever I go to get my prescription checked, I am always ready to change up my glasses and get a new style. As a teenager, I have found that the style changes very often. Each new pair of glasses that I get expresses a different part of who I am and my personality. I currently have a pair Ray-Bans, with a simple square black frame. My mother often makes fun of me because she wears glasses very similar to me. The chart is a good way to show that glasses give people individuality. Individuality is what makes the world so interesting, and glasses are just another article of clothing that makes people more interesting. Recently, I have seen more and more people with fake glasses, as a fashion statement, which makes me happy. With the technology behind glasses getting better, glasses are also becoming more fashionable.

I honestly don’t think about people’s glasses that often. Which is kind of weird to say when I have spent a lot of time thinking about how my glasses look (they are crooked; it upsets me). I know there are many people who think that “the frames make the face”, but in my opinion if they make you feel good about yourself and help you see then who cares what they look like. That being said, famous glasses are totally a thing. I didn’t even think about it until I was looking at this infographic and almost every one I recognized I thought “yup, those are iconic”. So maybe I am wrong, maybe glasses are an important part of a person’s personality. In any case I think the most iconic glasses in this list are Lady Gaga’s. I bet if you showed those glasses to anyone in my generation, they would know they were immediately Lady Gaga’s.
