'Hamilton' wins a Pulitzer Prize

Chicago Tribune: When "Hamilton" begins performances in Chicago on Sept. 27, it will do so as the winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

The coronation of the hit Broadway musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda — announced Monday afternoon with the year's honors in arts, letters and journalism — is hardly a surprise.

I like this article especially since it really goes into detail about the actual essence of the show, Hamilton. Every other article posted on here (though admitttedly, I have not read all twelve) kind of assumes the reader already knows everything about Hamilton because, let's face it, who doesn't know at least something about Hamilton. However, this article acts as an article as well as something of an advertisement. The author starts the article off by mentioning that Hamilton will start in Chicago on September 27, before launching into a full blown description of the theatrical masterpiece that is Hamilton. I find this kind of funny, because I am sure that Hamilton's Chicago run is going to sell out almost immediately after tickets open up for sale. They certainly do not need an article from the Chicago Tribune to get people to go to the show. However, it is still nice to see a description of Hamilton, reminding me that not everyone is as deep into the Hamilton black hole as myself and the rest of the school of drama.
