DeWalt DWE7480 10" Compact Job Site Table Saw

PTR: My first experience with a table saw was my Grandfather’s 1954 Sears Power King. For a long while I trembled every time I heard it start up. With no guard, a shaky wood base, and a missing throat plate, it was always waiting for its next victim and had, on more than one occasion, lulled me into complacency only to kick a board into my chest for my reward.

Oh the days…

While I have used a fair number of job site table saws, I am always cautious when using one for the first time. Most of the ones I have used have not been well taken care of, hence the caution. Of the ones I have used, accuracy seems to be the biggest issue. Often times the fences don’t lock in well or they are missing. For the types of cuts that I was making, the power was ample, but just barely. Based on this review, it seems that the new DeWalt saw is everything that one could want in a job site saw, but that doesn’t mean it is perfect. Stability is typically an issue with job site saws and this saw is no different. Ripping 4x8 sheets is difficult enough with a bench saw, it is nearly impossible with a job site saw (especially without help). If it were up to me, I would spend the money for a small bench saw and a mobile base.
