Miley Cyrus: Crazy Outfits From Dead Petz Tour Photos

collegecandy.com: If you thought Miley Cyrus‘ fashion couldn’t get weirder than when she hosted the VMAs this year, think again.

Miley Cyrus hit Chicago with The Flaming Lips to play the first gig on her new Dead Petz tour, and her outfits were all kinds of crazy. Her numerous outfit changes included her dressing as a stick of butter, a disco astronaut, and some things we can’t even put into words.

I like that when Miley Cyrus wears a snap back, she looks like Justin Bieber. I think that Miley Cyrus is really expressing her artistic individuality and trying to be as bold as possible. I think that besides her need to finally live how she wants to live her life after being forced to conform to Disney. I feel like Disney is like a fraternity in a lot of different ways. Everyone wants to part of Disney yet once they are a part of the company, it is difficult to get out of the company. Fraternities are the same in that once you are in; it’s hard to get out. You can only wear their letters if you are part of the fraternity, and when you wear the letters, you have to behave in a way that follows their general rules. I am glad that Miley got out of that hell hole, and I love her new attitude.

Everyone has a variety of thoughts about Miley Cyrus. Some people love her music, while some hate it. Some people hate how crazy and out there she is, and some people just love it. I am completely torn whether I love her or hate her or dislike her. Some of her music is really good, but other songs are just really bad. What I do respect about her is just how crazy she is. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and put herself out there (sometimes even a little too much). Cyrus stands by all of her decisions she makes and that is truly commendable. You can disagree with her and think that it is disgusting. At the end of the day I believe that she is being very genuine and real, and it is kind of nice to see that from a celebrity of her kind. That’s what I think.

Miley is doing her thing and I think she should be able to. However, I think it would be absolutely fascinating to do further research and learn the details of this tour. I could not even begin to imagine the logistics of the absurdity and craziness that the show contains. One question I have is if venues are filtering this show through their lineup or not. Does a venue want to have to deal with all that comes along with this tour? The tour manager for this production must be dedicated to Miley because I feel like someone would not just sign on to be a part of this tour. Also, I read that during this tour Miley is inviting audiences to take their clothes off with her throughout the show. This poses an interesting question for venues and making sure that only appropriate audiences are allowed into the show.

After looking through the pictures of Miley Cyrus' concert, I took to the internet to try to find the costume designer/stylist behind the outrageous looks. It seems as if most of these ideas come from Cyrus' brain, which are then translated into functioning ideas by costume constructors. If that's true, I really give a lot of credit to Cyrus for having the creative freedom that she does. I especially love the spilled milk costume -- that outfit reminds me of a very Andy Warhol modernism that I think is very popular now in pop-star styling. I've been a fan of Miley Cyrus since her Hannah Montana days, and it's very interesting to see how she herself has rebranded the image that she projects to the world versus the image that Disney projected for her. A lot of people have very strong opinions about her and what she does with her life, and it's true that she isn't necessarily a 'role model' for young girls, but I don't think she very much cares to be a role model in her life right now. If anything, she's teaching girls and boys to embrace the weird within -- to be entrepreneurs of their own ideas and not let other people weigh them down.

Miley Cyrus is a marketing genius. Or at the very least she has one working for her. I understand that this opinion is debatable, but she has done a wonderful job reinventing herself, and I know this to be a fact because we are writing comments about her at a prestigious college. Yes, her outfits are crazy, I'm sure her stylist is having a field day, but she is who she is, and she doesn't apologize. Too often women in Hollywood are forced into this standard of female beauty, and not allowed to express themselves fully. Miley has spoken out a lot about what it was like to grow up with this standard of beauty almost shoved down her throat, and has said very publicly how damaging it was to her mental health, and her body. Should I ever have a daughter I can only hope that she is as confident, and sure of herself as Miley is. We need to stop shaming people for what they wear, or how outlandish they act and start praising them for just being who they are. There should be no other way.

*sigh* We get it Miley, you aren’t the girl who starred on the Disney Channel anymore. I think that Miley is really trying to follow in the foot steps of some of the biggest music/performance art performers of our time, Madonna, Bjork, etc. The thing is I think that she is trying way too hard. For her predecessors the performance part of their music seemed like a natural extension of their main art form. For Miley it feels like she’s trying to hard to make an impression and the moves she’s making are less calculated. The randomness of them lessens the impact. She also says she has a message for the world but her antics do nothing to further her message. The outfits and her behavior are just making points to make points. Welcome to the worse version of Lady Gaga 10 years after she did it first. Even she’s calmed down a little bit.

This whole avant-garde warped music career of a former overly sexualized child idol is just so played out at this point, no?

Hyperbole aside, the Miley Cyrus phenomena is an interesting one, and this gallery very much encapsulates what she has transformed into, and what young girls are looking up to nowadays. People always had a level of respect for Miley, and every year she gains more and more fans for her perceived fearlessness and willingness to demean herself, as if to say the individual is completely meaningless. The most interesting part of the costumes is just how much care was taken to make it look like no care was taken. The crescent mood is very haphazard in design, but executed exactly to make you feel as if it was hobbled together at the last minute. Artists that create things that intrinsically oppose themselves are confusing to me, as they never seem to be saying anything, but the point some of my naysayers would make is that that is the whole point. Why say something when everything has already been said? Miley Cyrus was Hannah Montana, and now she is someone wearing a revealing spilled milk outfit, and that just might not mean anything, because we can't save anyone.

Y'know I guess it really is hard to break away from a Disney persona. If Miley Cyrus was aiming to change people's perception of her, I think she truly has achieved that. She probably, post Hannah Montana, wanted people's image in their mind when they heard her name to go from "Hannah Montana" to "Grown-Up Adult". And though, she acheived that... aren't there better ways to transform into an adult celebritiy.
As we have seen, many, Namely Disney stars, have issues growing up and still wanting the worldwide attention they once had. But to turn from a little girl's role model into someone so inflammatory and so avant-garde just for the sake of being outrageous seems like straight up teenage rebellion that she wasn't allowed ot do under Disney's kung fu grippe of a contract. And now this is her lashing out, yet still influencing the girls she once influenced. It is one thing to try to spark the idea of independence and sexual freedom in young women, but do be crass to just be crass, in my opinion is always in poor taste. Some may disagree, but I am turned off by her unclassiness.

Miley Cyrus just ceases to amaze me with the ridiculous outfits she puts on for her shows and events. I guess influences from other artists have affected her wardrobe, like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Cher. These are all women who didnt have a problem exposing their crazy fashion. It is strange to think that she came from disney. disney channel i guess restricted her so much that she had to break away from the kiddie madness and jump into a whole different type of madness that are her costumes. Miley does express that she is a symbol for free sexuality and independence but really, if i was her father, i would never let her wear those things.
