Paolo Ventura Designs a ‘Carousel

NYTimes.com: The Italian artist Paolo Ventura was so unfamiliar with Rodgers and Hammerstein before he was asked to design a set for “Carousel” that he sometimes referred to them as Hammerstein and Rodgers.

“They are not popular in Italy,” Mr. Ventura said from Milan in a recent Skype call.

this is really cool because we will be able to see an entire new perspective on the show. Ive seen many shows starting to do this over the years and its become an awesome vision. This artist from Italy, having never heard of the show will provide an unique experience to audiences that im sure has never been seen before. just by looking at the art he has a very stylistic view on the show and im sure this will work well for the story. I think this style is very appropriate for the time period and matches the theme of an old circus well. Hopefully this show will be a new interpretation and will not lean on previous adaptions. I think with a style and design like this the rest of the show will fall into place and the audience will be happy to see it.
