PMT’s Peter Pan: A Pleasing Performance for Children of All Ages

The PGH Stage Online Magazine: “I didn’t like it… I LOVED it.” That’s what 6-year-old Maggie Martin said about her first night out at the theater—and, given the show she saw, it’s kids like her whose opinions matter.

Maggie is my daughter, and was my companion for Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s opening-night performance of Broadway’s timeless musical, Peter Pan, at the Byham Theater.

Reading this article reminds me of a lot about a project my retired director is working on with the projection mappers of Disney Imagineering. She is doing a Peter Pan production that consists of a full white set and everything about it is projection mapped. It just makes me very happy to know what she is doing and I hope to see it when I get back to Florida this summer. But the cast is basically all ages and it seems to be a great working process for my director. She worked so hard during our high school that she could leave the world of directing. So being able to direct the full projection mapped Peter Pan is something I'm looking forward too. I also hope I'll get the opportunity to meet them. Peter Pan is one of my favorite movies, so I hope this production is good too.
