I think it is a wonderful thing that there is now a one act festival open to the residents of the city of Pittsburgh. Some of the best dramatical literature and performances that I have experienced have come out of my involvement or attendance to a one act festival. The nature of these festivals is such that a lot of work gets exhibited in a traditional amount of performance time, so it’s easy for a lot of people to get their work staged and performed. This gives people the opportunity to get noticed, to have their work seen and criticized, or simply to pursue a passion that might have been put down years ago. Either way, it can only be good for the community that such festivals exist. It’s also nice that the festival goes out of it’s way to recognize the playwrights who had particular success at the festival.
