Oscillating Multi-Tools

the Ultimate Toolstop Guide: We've been big fans of oscillating multi-cutters (aka multi-tools) here at Toolstop for years.

From their corded origins to their cordless counterparts, they truly are the ultimate "get out of jail free" card for any tradesperson, the tool that'll enable to you perform fiddly and awkward jobs, to being the go-to tool for finishing applications off.

Of course they cant call the Bosch and Makita version of the Fein Saw a “Fein Saw”, so they have to say oscillating saw, but we all know it is just their takeoff of the Fein Saw. . . . From these promotional videos it looks pretty obvious that the other brand name versions of this tool just don’t work as well. The Fein version appears to just glide through the material that its cutting, while the other two end up generating a lot of smoke, even on an ideally fixed surface. The improvement that I would like to see out of an oscillating saw, is if it had a pair of oppositely oscillating blades so that it would not vibrate whatever material you were cutting though. In the current design, if you try and cut into something that can vibrate in the direction of the blade vibration, It will vibrate with the blade and not cut. Two opposing cutters might solve this problem.
