New Attractions at Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival

Blogh | Pittsburgh City Paper: The free festival runs June 5-14. Programmed by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, it includes the familiar Artists’ Market and free concerts in Point State Park. (As previously announced, performers include the likes of Neko Case, Richard Thompson, Benjamin Booker, Rhiannon Giddens and The Felice Brothers.)

But there are also a theme and some new wrinkles.

its great to see that the pittsburgh arts festival will be getting new attractions. from the article it seems like they want more live events and more interaction from the participants. the fact that one persons taste will determine what theme they want the festival to be is concerning. i often see many theaters screwed over because a person likes a certain genre or doesn't like a certain style. i find that you have a more successful season from a board, or in other words a varied opinion, rather than a single point of view. although she was a curator at the miller gallery and im sure did a nice job there, im sure she has stuff that she likes and doesn't like that will affect the festival. but all in al i like the improvements they are making to the experience.
