Well . . . I hope that they have fixed some of the issue with only gripping onto thicker metal. For our purposes it is highly annoying when I have to drill a 3/8” hole in a piece of scenery that is wayyyy up in the air and I have to decided to use a squeeze clamp and a hand or corded drill instead of the magnetic drill press we have because the magnet cant grip onto whatever I am drilling into. Isn’t that what it is supposed to be for? I understand that it is really hard to make a magnet that grips onto thin metal and thick metal equally, but im sure there is a way to do it. They make magnetic vices that work very well on small gauge metal as well as thick metal, just by using interfering magnets that are alternating destructively or constructively depending on what you want. What I would really love to see is a hand drill that is able to magnetically attract itself to whatever its drilling into.

Wow, this sounds like a really awesome tool! I've never heard of magnetic drills, corded or cordless! I definitely can see how this has tons of applications when you need to drill through a difficult material above your head or in a position that is hard to maintain physically. Like Chris mentioned above, I've been on numerous calls where the best way to get a hole for a through bolt through 1/4" steel plate was to take up a cordless hand drill and a quick clamp. Definitely not the best way to go about handling your drilling needs. The fact that this has a lubricant tank is even more awesome! Having to pour Tap Magic onto your bit every couple of seconds is a real pain. I understand that the price tag is a real barrier to entry here, but it really does seem like a quality product for the price tag. I genuinely have never heard of any kind of drill in this form factor before!
