Best Projection Mapping Softwares

projection-mapping.org: The good news is that there are a lot of programs out there that will allow you to do so, but before you put the time in to learning any of them, take a quick peek at my thoughts below or just play around in our Tools section and see for yourself: http://projection-mapping.org/tools/

During our stagecraft course, we are taught Millumin, however we are not exposed to any other softwares. The list in this article explains the other popular programs that industry professionals are using. One of the things I found very interesting was the prices for each program and how drastically high they were. However, I think this mainly has to do with the newness of the technology and how it has not yet become mainstream yet. I think that projection mapping will soon be a technology that reaches its fingertips into all fields of entertainment. Additionally, I also liked how it gave examples of professional programs that are used for high class events. Something I also found intriguing how there was a different list for Mac & PC. Primarily I thought that the entertainment industry was dominated by Mac but this article proves otherwise that there is a demand for it.

I bookmarked this article immediately. I love to see what kind of technology is used for what I want to do or at least accomplish the understanding of something I would like to focus in for the future. Technology has taken over and projection mapping is becoming super popular in the entertainment industry. And projection mapping is something I want to learn and understand so badly. So I'm hoping if I get enough money that one of these programs can be downloaded for my personal use. I'm mostly familiar with Millumin, but I wonder how good mad mappers really is. I would love to check out all of these programs someday to see the difference and similarities. This would definitely help with my understanding of what is going on with these programs and what my preference would be to use sometime in the near future or for a future career.

Projection mapping is an amazing technology. it allows us to make textures and images using light and video. At CMU we have learned to use millumin and after effects to bring our projection mapping ideas to life. Looking over these other softwares I'm sure there are many who can do things better than millumin but at this point in time I cannot devote myself to learn an entire new program especially if i already know millumin, i think if there were reviews connected in the article so that i could see what working professionals like and dislike about each one the article would have been more helpful to me. I'll go through and see which one is the best to use and see if its worth learning maybe over the summer.

I am really interested in projection mapping and media design because it combines theatre and TV production and editing, which are strong interests of mine. This year was the first time I learned about projection mapping with Millumin. I am in the media stagecraft mini now, so there is still parts of Millumin and other video editing software that I have not learned yet. Comparing different software programs is very interesting because it is often opinion based. Everyone feels different ways about different programs. It either depends on the easiness of the interface or the capabilities of the program itself. I cannot compare any projection mapping programs because I’ve only used one, but I’m sure they each have their pros and cons. I would love to explore more programs as I learn more about projection mapping in the future. Even though they are expensive hopefully I will be able to try student versions of each.
