I think it is great when people in the same job in the entertainment or any other type of industry get together an honor each other’s work. More often than not jobs like location management get forgotten in the shuffle of award season even though their contributions to film and television are invaluable. The choice on their part to instead to honor each other is a great one and I wish more entertainment professionals would follow suit. We spent a good amount of time talking about inclusion for sound designers in the Tony Awards these past few years and this article makes me wonder if those designers would be better off having their own ceremony if they do not already. Getting an award from those who know exactly what all goes into the work that you do as opposed to a general catch all board would be more special in my opinion.
