This really is a tragic accident in which only innocent people were hurt. As always in articles like this, I come to question safety and security standards. It is clear from the article that there was inclement weather at the time of the mass and because while “Padasas was waiting for the papal convoy when strong wind blew away the scaffolding supporting a speaker stack that hit her in the head, Mover Nico Acebedo reported.” I believe that when any larger object is being rigged, it should be rigged for a worst case scenario type of situation, not a sunny, clear happy day situation and I am sure there are standards that enforce it. Padasas was clearly a hard working and generous person who did not really deserve to suffer the way she did, so close to after being acknowledged by the Pope for her service and work.
