Themendous Sizzle part 3 of 4

YouTube: What happens when you get hit with a 5 day deadline? The shop starts to get dirty in this part 3 of a hard hit deadline for Jimmy Buffet's Margartiaville in Jamaica. Having just gotten hit by Hurrican Sandy, they had an urgent need to rebuild, and came to us; Themendous, for that very help.

This was an interesting video, I enjoyed hearing the concepts and drawings as they formed their ideas. The main sculptor was kind of a hard character to work with it seemed. I hate when people go into a worksite and yell constantly and are never easy to work with. even if he is a very creative sculptor if I think it will be a pain to work with him i wouldn't hire him. That being said I know this is reality television. I think the finished product was done very nicely and I'm always interested in how they make large installations like this and how i can make something similar in my work. I think watching the process videos are always great because it allows me as a designer to look at what I can design as well as other innovative ways to show a story.

I think a big thing lacking in this case is a good leader. There's no communication there's just yelling and screaming there's no delegating there is just telling what is going to happen and what needs to get done. The employees can't respect the boss because they're bosses and have any respect for the employees or their time. I realize that there's a time crunch here and that things need to get done in the treatment of time but in that case they should have come up with the schedule before agreeing to this projec The boss makes it nearly impossible to want to work with him because nobody wants to be around him. Any time any of them open their mouths they are turned down because the boss always thinks that they're questioning his knowledge. A good leader delegates tasks and makes sure everything gets done while they're in employees are staying healthy and alert.

Watching the video made me want to see how it turned out in the end. Seeing the various stages of the process to get a project like this out, but also do it on a consistent basis for other customers’ shows the creativity involved with a skill of this nature. We created a swan for the opera here at CMU, I don’t think I can say it was quite as intricate as what this company does on a daily basis, but deadlines have to be followed, and time waits for no one. Everyone has their own work pace, and sometimes you just can’t rush them, but you have to be able to trust that they will be able to get the job done efficiently and with enough time to allow everyone else work to complete the job to the best of their abilities. It would be very disappointing if they were to let a company down especially one like Margaritaville that is so famously known.
