Imagine Dragons to play a concert on a flight from Las Vegas

Las Vegas Review-Journal: Southwest Airlines is taking Las Vegas indie rock band Imagine Dragons to new heights.

The Dallas-based airline, the busiest commercial carrier at McCarran International Airport, will host a concert on a flight between Las Vegas and Atlanta as part of a promotion for the release of the band’s new album on Feb. 17.

I think this is a great concept but I don't know if it is the best idea to have a concert on a plane. While I think it would be cool to think that you are not only at an awesome concert but also thousands of feet in the air flying to a new place I think it might be harmful to your ears and flight experience. First for the concerts i've been to its very loud and full of people who are also loud. Lets say they turn the volume down in the plane as if you're at a cabaret or bar. flights themselves are noisy and I remember as a child screaming in pain because my ears wouldn't adjust to the altitude. I couldn't imagine having to try to hear a concert while also trying to drown out the sound of the plane itself. I think this is a cool concept but i don't think I would want to go. I'd rather sleep or watch a movie.

I think that this is an extremely innovative and unique idea that has never been thought of before. Imagine Dragons usually always thinks of odd venues and unique places for them to occur. This one literally goes above and beyond what people are expecting out of them and, quite frankly, I don’t exactly know if it would the best idea to have a loud band on a flight. The band could be extremely distracting to the flight attendants and pilots as they try to do their job. Their equipment would take up a lot of space and take away seating for their ‘audience’. If you can barely use Wi-Fi on a plane what makes them think that all of their equipment would work efficiently? The idea is cool don’t get me wrong. However, the logistics of it do not exactly match up. I would love to see the band follow through with this and get everything to work properly.

I have always enjoyed the concept of looking at common everyday spaces and reinventing what it could be used for. And that is exactly what I see the Imagine Dragons team doing. From being a bias fan of their album Night Visions I know their music connects deeply with so many people. And I know I learn more and more from the songs each time I listen. So the thought of them taking their powerful words to new heights excites me. So often as a society we look at plans as nothing more than a faster way to get me from point A to point B, but that just isn’t true. Not to long ago man laughed at the idea that it was possible to take to the skies and see what the birds see, but we pushed through and did it. And I’m sure there are people out there who are laughing at the idea of a concert on a plane but Imagine Dragons are going to be the pioneers to do it.
