What a cool project. I love that Primary Stages is giving some attention to the establishment and rise of Off-Broadway, since it seems all the attention is always given to Broadway history, Broadway shows, Broadway awards, Broadway actors and designers and managers and technicians. But how about the people with equal talent who didn't fit in the 40 available houses? I also think it's great that this is the format it is being done in. By conducting interviews and producing a film, we are able to capture the essence of the people involved in the pioneering of Off-Broadway while giving them a chance to relive their experiences and tell the story with their own words. The pioneers are writing (or perhaps, speaking) their own history, and I think that's pretty cool.
