Angry Birds Theme Parks Exist, and There Will Be More of Them

Flavorwire: First, Angry Birds was an app. Then, Angry Birds was a line of apparel at Wal-Mart. Then, Angry Birds was more apps, and more apparel. Somehow, somewhere along the way, Angry Birds — a mobile app about launching said “angry birds” at embarrassingly unfortified structures — became an empire.

OK this is crazy town. To think an app could create such a worldwide phenomenon is simply crazy. This seemingly silly game is making a crap ton of money all over the world. This just goes to show you how technology has really changed the world. Anyone can have an idea for an app and start something that spreads worldwide. Look at a game like "Flappy Bird." People literally went nuts over that game, and it had to be removed from the app store. Then when people wanted the game, they'd literally buy a phone with the game on it off of a site like ebay for tens of thousands of dollars. These silly apps and games are not that silly. They have a huge impact on our society and it is no surprise that Angry Birds has taken this next step.

I agree with Ms. Guido! This is amazinggg! I think this is a genius idea. I remember when this game came out and how crazy people went over this game. People from my grandparents to my little cousins were playing this game. It is amazing to see how this game spread worldwide and had such a huge impact on people in other nations. I'm pretty sure that there will be these parks all over our country and across the world. This franchise is making so much money and its amazing to see how much joy these little birds can give to a generation of people. What if this happens to many other app games? The opportunities are endless!

HA HA HA HA. Is this the real life? Okay, as a person who never was fully into the craze of the Angry Bird Saga I think this is crazy. I always thought the game was fun and I think there was an addicting quality to it but I never felt like it was the end all of games. So to find out that now its an amusement park that is going to franchise and open up in various new places I find it kind of amusing. To be fair though... I am the odd ball in this scenario. Many people stand by this game religiously and so it should come as no surprise that this game has monopolized into a full fledged industry. IF this amusement park makes its way to the states I will of course be open minded and give it a shot but I have my suspicions that it will have no more affect on me than any other amusement park.

Okay so when I read the title of the article, I assumed they meant like an amusement park with roller coasters and things. To see that it's actually just a playground is a little better. But I still feel a bit uneasy about it. It just seems strange to have a playground be commercialized like that. Others like it probably exist, but I have not heard of them.

It just seems a bit off, especially because children are getting more and more involved with smart phones and technology, that suddenly, their playgrounds have to look more like their apps. I just dont know where this is heading, and I hope it doesn't take this idea too far.

This is ridiculously funny. I don't think anyone expected Angry Birds to grow to this size, and I honestly thought it had reached its peak once I started seeing pillows and toys and commercials for an app. When app-based games started hitting cell phones and tablets, I think there were a lot of initial assumptions that they probably wouldn't get very far and that console games would still dominate. While in the console gaming industry its clear that sales are still running high, I think Angry Birds is a good indication that there is a lot to be said about the power of the app store.

The Angry Birds marketing team is insanely clever, I'll give them that. They've made a gradual progression from beloved game to merchandise enterprise to now an entire themed experience. I find it interesting that a game as simplistic as Angry Birds made the cut to be expanded as far as it has, though that might all be thanks to the aforementioned marketing team. I've noticed that there has been more of a balance of video game/movie franchise popularity in recent years. Because we're so attached to our cell phones, it's only natural that the next 'big thing' doesn't come from a book like Harry Potter or a movie series like 'The Lord of the Rings'. The Angry Birds franchise only proves my theory.

Well what I saw isn't quite as bad as what I expected. When I hear theme park I expect roller coasters and rides similar to Disney or Universal, however seeing just a children's playset that is Angry Birds themed is not that surprising. While I admit that the Angry Birds thing has got a bit out of hand, it is a trend that people don't lose interest for. The simplicity of the game must have part to do with the success and the continual expansion and creation of new problems and levels with slight variation is a great way to expand the business.

I cannot believe that this app has had enough popularity to create not just one, but many theme parks. Angry birds is an incredibly addicting game. It was the first one that I downloaded when getting an iPhone. I am surprised that technology can effect the world to this degree. In recent years I thought that angry birds has dropped off the radar, but apparently not! This just goes to show that the tech world is soon to take over the entertainment industry.

theme park? no but i think theming a playground is a great idea. i think it adds much more character to it because the kids can connect to it in more than one way. I believe angry birds is essentially a remake of the game called "crush the castle" where instead of history and catapults...they use birds. i never was a huge fan of the game but if they think people will be interested enough to come from far away to visit these angry bird attractions then by all means build them. i don't think i will but then again i'm not a huge fan.

This is insane. I didn't realize Angry Birds is this popular, this is just nuts. It's only slightly better that it isn't a whole amusement park, but just playgrounds, but still! Maybe it's because I never got into Angry Birds that this is my reaction. But still, this is just wow! I can't believe that it has gotten so popular. I guess it is understandable since people of all ages are playing the game. I wonder what is going to happen next, will it enter TV shows and classrooms?

So i clicked on this article because it said "theme park". This is not a theme park. This is not even an amusement park. This is a playground. There is an angry birds themed playground in the uk. Wooo. I really hate when people use "theme park" to describe things that arent in fact theme parks. It degrades the term and the entire themed entertainment sector of the entertainment industry. Themed entertainment is strongly and completely based in the story that is being told through an experience. Unless that is the case, it is not a theme park, and THIS is most definitely not a theme park. This is an absolute joke.

Ok someone might think this is crazy, BUT I LOVE IT!!! This looks really funny and sounds like a perfect place to hide away from Purnell and just throw yourself to all the angry birds! That sounds like a really great idea! And this might be a total BS because I love angry bird (the original version) so that's why I'm so excited about this, I hope there's one in Pittsburgh, but China is fine, I can go whenever. I am so happy to hear about this I need to say this. THIS IS AMAZING. I just hope it will be better if it's bigger with roller coasters and space mountain or haunted mansion (in angry bird version, how cute will it be?) which will make it sounds like Disney land, but birds instead of Mickey mouse, not that I don't like Disney land, it's just it can be another option. Anyway, cool. love. A great place for family time too I can tell.
