CNN Ordered to Rehire Over 100 Union Techs, Compensate Many More

Hollywood Reporter: The National Labor Relations Board on Friday ordered CNN to rehire more than 100 union technicians in the network’s New York and Washington bureaus, compensate more than 200 others wrongly paid at lower wage rates, and recognize a unit of the Communications Workers of America as the bargaining representative of the affected employees.

This is really awful for both parties. The union workers do have a bigger complaint of not being able to work, but in law suits and legal battles I feel like neither side will win. CNN will probably fill an appeal and move through that. If the union ever gets any money it will probably be a few more years. Which again is awful for both sides, sitting through litigation and press.

One part that makes me wonder about it how CNN anti-union. Which I have nothing to back this up with or anything at all. But my impression was CNN was liberal news and Fox was conservative news. Also that liberals liked unions. Following logic that could totally not be true, then shouldn’t CNN want unions working for them. I am not sure if those statements hold any salt.

Either way this case is not getting settled any time soon.
