A Tricked Out Miter Saw Cart

Tools of the Trade: My company installs millwork and trim on commercial projects, some so large we might have to walk ¼ to ½ mile inside the building to reach the place where the work is to occur. And the work might be spread out over a large area, as was the case on a recent project where we trimmed a ¼-mile long corridor in a hospital.

This contractor could have easily purchased a cheaper miter saw cart that was already mobile, much like the ones we have in the shop. However, he decided to find a solution that allowed him to continue using the existing bases for his saws. The BestFence product was already a highly rated fence/base accessory for miter saws, but the base this gentleman has designed is makes it even more versatile. It's also a design many scene shops could adopt that may make their saws much more versatile and efficient than a more basic base. I especially appreciate the scrap bucket solution and the way in which he has specifically accounted for the various tools like the vacuum and the inclusion of the air compressor. If you follow the link and check out his mobile tool cart it’s also stocked pretty well. You can tell this guy has put some serious thought into assessing every aspect of the work he does to try and make sure that he is always prepared. He then takes it one step further to ensure that every tool and item has its place. I wish I could say the same about my/our tool set-ups. If we were to set up mobile tool boxes like and saw station this well thought out it may make our load-ins here in Purnell and at 201 more efficient.
