OSF Receives In-Kind Donation of Tools From Stanley Black & Decker

Stage Directions: From a 12-inch sliding compound miter saw to a dozen snap blade knives, Stanley Black & Decker is helping deck out the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s (OSF) recently-completed Production Building in Talent with new equipment through an in-kind donation valued at $12,627.24.

It's nice to see big companies helping out the little guys. Proper and good tools are absolutely essential for even the smallest theaters but they are a major investment. Especially considering that OSF just built a new production building, outfitting that new space with new tools was a must for them. But having just built a new facility, a whole shop full of new tools was most likely not in their budget. The fact that companies have programs like these that help small businesses is great. Not only does it help the little guys, it also provides a lot of positive publicity for the corporations that donate equipment. In a way this is similar to the article a few weeks ago about Fluke donating their multimeters to Sparkfun after theirs were seized by Customs. When big companies make charitable actions like these, everyone wins.

I've been to OSF's old production building and they needed more space. I'm glad to hear that they are getting a new building with lots of new tools. It is very nice of Stanley Black & Decker to make this kind of donation to OSF. I am always really happy when I hear about big companies donating to non profits.
