‘Evil Dead The Musical’ has its moments in either of its venues

Las Vegas Review-Journal: It’s not Part 2, but “Evil Dead The Musical” squared.
The cult musical based on a cult movie is the only show in town that bombards its audience with stage blood, F-bombs, middle fingers and bad puns. And now it’s the only one staged in two places: upstairs and downstairs venues inside The V Theater at the Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood Resort.

Thats really interesting to have one show run in separate venues. As the article made clear this seems to dramatically effect the effect the performance has on the audience. Both shows seem to be very low budget which I find slightly odd for a Vegas show. Typically I imagine vegas shows as being big and flashy. However, this show certainly seems like it fits the dynamic of what people particularly at planet hollywood would like to see. I think this show clearly has potential for going much bigger and I wonder what challenges this could provide for the creative team.

This show is giving me a reason to hit Vegas, I hope it's still playing when I turn 21 and take the town. The two different stages this play goes on in the same building is a nice way to give the audience's different experiences and have the actors keep the story fresh by switching off where they perform, but it still kinda seems like a gimmick in order to rake in more cash for people to see virtually the same show twice, because as the article pointed out, there is very little difference between the two locations, not even a change in actors for the most part. I doubt it's the most profound or technically sound theatre production, but the cult nature of the piece and its self-awareness would surely be entertaining. It sounds like a very fun show to be a part of, which plenty of room for something new each night and really making it for the audience's experiment, a la Rocky Horror. I haven't given it a listen, but I would hope that the music actually has some clever substance to it, and not just musical numbers tacked on to reap the longevity and lucrative nature of the Evil Dead franchise.
