Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® Lights

Tool Box Buzz Tool Box Buzz: Starting in November of 2014, an updated line of Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® lights will be hitting the market. The first generation of these lights were really great, so I was eager to check out this new updated line. Energizer sent me two of the new lights to check out including the Task Light and Project Light.

A flashlight are one of the most important parts of my kit that I carry when I work. It doesn't matter how great your tools are if you can't see what you are trying to use them on. I'm not sure I would every buy the flashlights in this article because I love the one I already have. But then again it's not fair to compare the two since they are at completely different price point. That being said, for the price, these look like really great lights. The improvements Energizer made from the last iteration are pretty impressive. The task light has a 525% increase over the last model which is a ridiculous increase which makes me think the last model was not very good. It went from 20 to 125 lumens so if people liked the last model, they'll love this new one. Like I said, for the price these look like really good flashlights.

I'm in the market for a new flashlight and I wouldn't mind one of these. It would be nice to have a flashlight as rugged as these but I will say that they look a little bulky to be an everyday carry. These look more like a flashlight to keep in your toolbox. One thing that really makes these a tempting buy is that they are fairly cheap for a flashlight.

Also being in the market for a new flashlight these lights seem to give a pretty good bang for your buck as far as lights are concerned. This being said and having owned a few Energizer lights (both head lamps and flashlights) I have not been very pleased with their products. Most of which have been cheaply and poorly made and broke easily. Also the light emission has been quite poor as far as these flashlights were concerned. All that being said, the flashlights described in this article seem to be an exception to this stereotype and based on the reviews, I may even consider purchasing one of these lights.

These don’t look half bad, but they are a little pricey for what they are. When I’m looking to pay more than $25, I’m definitely expecting to get a light with a metal case and a gorilla glass lens. That being said, the output of the smallest model is 125 lumens, which is pretty respectable for a battery brand flashlight (a dollar store flashlight is about 10 lumens).

I like that they are black. I wish they had a way to attach a blue filter. They would make the perfect backstage flashlight if they did.
