And to think that 2014 is not even close to being over! Some of the new features seem pretty cool though. The new lasso tool and command preview are particularly exciting. As a mac user, I hope that 2015 for mac is right around the corner. I have had more than my fair share of mac related AutoCad issues. Maybe it is finally time to switch to AutoCad for pc with 2015.

Does it seem crazy to anyone else that 2015 is coming out and it is only April? This article doesn't go in to any of the new feature that I might want to try out with AutoCad 2015, but I looked in to a few of them. I'm not all that impressed. Generally the new features are really small or they break something that worked really well in the past. I don't see anything new worth waiting for a long download and install to try out. I only know how to use a small number of the features in the current AutoCad, so I don't want to add more on top of that. I'm sure this is very exciting for people who are much more advanced AutoCad users.

How is there already an AutoCad 2015!? it feels like I just downloaded 2014 a few months ago. This article doesn't have any information on what is new in this version and it was not readily accessible on line. What ever the new features are I am fairly certain it wont be worth what they will charge to upgrade. I'll keep taking advantage of the student editions while I still can.

Well I hope they fix the glitch where I can't even open up autocad without opening a previously created file first.. But like Ben said, there's plenty of interesting features involved in this update, like the lasso tool. They also seem to be pushing the online features including autodesk360 a lot. I'm not sure if that's because of someone supporting it or if they just see it as a useful feature and are worried to give it up.

AutoCad is one of the most daunting programs you could ever hope to open. The already obtuse nature of drafting on a computer is compounded by one of the most newcomer-unfriendly Ui's in the business, the difficulty in finding a central tutorial outside of a Dostoevsky-sized textbook, and the pricey barrier of entry. Now, as students, that 2nd bit might be eliminated, but the 1st and the 3rd rear their ugly heads more often than anyone in their right minds would enjoy. The new features included in the 2015 version make the overall package a bit more intuitive, but as a Mac user and a Team Vectorworks man, I can't see myself downloading this program and wasting valuable hard disk space until the bitter end.
