Personal Mission Statements Of 5 Famous CEOs (And Why You Should Write One Too)

Fast Company | Business + Innovation: Companies have developed mission statements for years. It helps guide them by defining who they are and why they do what they do. Coca-Cola’s mission statement, for example, is “To refresh the world. To inspire moments of optimism and happiness. To create value and make a difference.” For Google it’s “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

This is a really inspiring article and a settling article for myself. I gave myself a personal mission statement and it has been the driving force in my life. To see others who have done the same in their positions inspire me to know that I may be on the right track in life. I love how simple some are versus others. But in the end, you have to do what is best for you. This was a really inspiring article but I would have also liked there to be the opposing force of a mantra. Its pretty tough looking at something that you have chosen to live by when you arent doing it. And that has a positive affect on your life in keeping you on track. But I think that side should be expressed.

I took a stab at writing a mission statement and this is what I came up with: To develop through introspection and observation a faculty for collaboration and ingenuity in an effort to create engaging and potent art for a modern audience. I found it really interesting how the mission statements in the article were very short and clear yet broad enough to fuel many areas of one's life.

I think that a mission statement can be a very powerful tool in shaping your own path. Something to remind you of what you're doing, where you're going, and why you're doing it. Anything from a simple statement with broad meaning like Michael said or something much longer filled with detail and complexity to ensure you cover all your bases. The most important part about this mission statement is that it is unique to you, and you alone.

I feel like everybody has a mission statement whether they are aware of it or not. It's simply what you want in life written in a structured sentence. I see how writing it down and making it coherent is helpful though. Like how writing notes helps your brain to remember, writing down you're mission statement can help to keep it a point of attention for yourself.

I think this is very powerful for no only any company to have, but I think every person should have this for themselves too. I think having a mission statement establishes the purpose, and goal for whatever someone believes in. And I think we all believe in something. That's why most theatre companies that have a mission statement usually only do a specific kind of work, because they know what types of matter they are trying to cover.

I think it is really important to know where you're going in life and how you are going to get there. Having a personal mission statement is a great step in the right direction. The first time I heard about personal mission statements, it was really difficult for me to fathom boiling down my purpose and direction in life into a few phrases, but writing one down gave me a great outlook on my future.

I like this idea because I think that stating your purpose is not only a great way of maintaining a focused drive, but the process of coming up with the mission statement itself is based on self-reflection, something that I consider to be very healthy. It seems like a good way to make hard decisions since it could be used as a guide when confronted with one.
The most important thing would be to be flexible with your own statement. You should strive to live by it, but not be afraid to edit it to reflect any changes in your personal goals or beliefs.
