Inside the upcoming Heart and Lights Radio City spectacular

7online.com: Giant puppets are set to take over Radio City Music Hall as "Heart and Lights" takes center stage.
It's been a labor of love for more than half a decade, the creation of larger than life puppets will soon take over the iconic venue.
Lady Liberty, the 26-foot tall puppet, is one of six featured in the upcoming production.

It seems like giant puppets are growing in popularity, what with the King Kong articles earlier and now these. The puppets are certainly very impressive, but I would like to see how they appear practically in shows, if they seem gimmicky at all or if it's simply a kind of storytelling effect. I'd also be really interested to experience what it's like to work in such a huge scale, especially since all of my limited experience has been geared towards much smaller things. It's kind of incredible to think that it took a full year to get this one piece (Lady Liberty) up and working. I wonder if the music hall has any problems dealing with space issues and moving all of these pieces around, given their size.
