This sounds like such a fantastic idea for so many reasons! First of all there are so many young people who are looking to go into the arts in some form or another who do not see it as a "realistic" way to make a living and thus settle for a job they know will make them miserable, and I think this would really help to show them that there are real jobs out there in the arts industry. Also one of the biggest problems in the art industry, and pretty much every industry for that matter, is that as a young person you do not have any real industry experience behind you and you often cannot get jobs with out having done the job before, and I think this will really help with that problem. I am curious though why the age is 16 and not 18. It seems like this idea would be much more effective if all of the job that were given were full-time jobs. Either way though, I think that this will have very positive consequences.

I love how the Uk is making a conscious effort to gel develop the entertainment industry of tomorrow. Sooner or later today's industry professionals are no longer going to exist and so its important to know who is going to take their place. The creative industry is focused on hands on learning and its important for these people to get experience before they enter the field has industry professionals. Other countries around the world should start taking the initiative of supporting the creative arts industry by hosting campaigns and providing active support.
