Music News | Rolling Stone: The Beatles revue that hit Broadway just last month will wrap up its run months early amidst poor ticket sales. According to the New York Times, Let It Be will cut its Broadway run short by over three months; the tribute show was scheduled to run through December 29th, but will now close on September 1st.

Two thoughts:
1. It's always sad to hear about a show that is closing on Broadway. If a show closes 3 months early, I guess you could say that it wasn't a success.
On the other hand, the show did make it to Broadway and West End. I mean it's still BROADWAY...
2. I don't really like musicals that try to make a story out of music that was written by a certain band or musician (Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Beatles...) It always seems pretty forced to me. I mean how can you compare these musicals to the great musicals of the past like Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady or The Sound of Music. I even prefer the musicals today that have new original soundtracks written for them like Wicked. They make more sense. The music and the plot work together.
I wonder why there is such a discrepancy between how the show did on West End and how it did on Broadway. I'm going to assume they didn't change much about the show when they brought it over, and have to wonder whether it is that American audiences are just not interested in seeing a Beatles tribute musical, or if it's the timing, or the economy.
