Women and Hollywood: The great Cicely Tyson was recently profiled on CBS News for her new role on Broadway. Tyson, an award-winning actress, hasn't been on the Broadway stage in 30 years. She's starring in a revival of the 1953 drama The Trip to Bountiful, staged for the first time with a black cast. Being an African American female actor i am very grateful for Cicely and all that she has done. She has truly paved the way for girls like me along with other greats like Phylicia Rashad. My goal in life is to inspire and follow the path that my predecessors have paved as well as pave new ones for my successors. The first thing i learned in acting is how to use it to change peoples lives and Cicely has mastered that technique and has changed the lives of many. She has already made her mark in the broadway community, the film community, and the African American community and now she is working to teach others to make their own marks.
