‘This Clement World,’ a Play About Climate Change

NYTimes.com: Say what you will about the potential end of civilization as we know it, but there’s no denying it is dramatic stuff. That’s why it’s odd that as climate change finally moves forward in the national conversation, with President Obama making it a centerpiece of his inauguration speech, New York theater has mostly avoided it.

I think that this show is very important and talks about a very important issue but i have to wonder if people are going to like it. For some reason I always think of shows that have large themes, such as climate change, to work because it's so much more difficult to talk about the subject while telling a story that theater audiences want to watch. Of course, I know absolutely nothing about the plot or how the script for this show is, so I can't really have a real opinion. I'm very interested to see how this show turns out and I'd love to see it.

This reminds me of how we have always been taught tp ask "Why this play now?". And this play provides an interesting answer in the fact that this is relevant to us now, and a play like this has the potential to actually start making us think about what could happen if we don't start to change. Weather, and not just the climate, is starting to get worse and worse and i'm not really sure if we are doing anything about it or if there is anything we can do about it.
