Open Today: Summer 2013 White House Internship Program Application

The White House: Medical school student, volunteer firefighter, active duty member of the United States Armed Forces, fashion designer, spouse, sailor who’s completed a 3,000 nautical mile voyage, neuroscientist, Ph.D. student, professional DJ, high school math teacher, Division I athlete, parent, freelance videographer, ballerina, college freshman... The list above isn’t just a random collection of words and phrases. It’s actually a list of the interests, backgrounds and skills of a handful of former White House Interns – and it’s nowhere near exhaustive.

Please apply for this!!! Yes, I know it's not theater (and that the application is extensive), but they have a number of positions that would benefit from having someone with our background in it. The interns in this program come back with some incredible experiences, beyond just going to work at the White House every day. Also, CMU has a couple alumni working in the White House, and every year they have at least one CMU intern.

Much of what I've just said is true for a number of DC internships. Check out this program to get some money for doing them: http://www.cmu.edu/govrel/friedman/index.html

This is an amazing program it seems. I just wonder what do you do as an Intern. Are you just grabbing coffee and running around to get ready for meetings and other things? I also wonder what the internship provides for people in the internship. Like what is the pay and do they provide housing for the inters or is it a zero pay and no housing so you have to go into the hole, costing you for the internship. Even if that was so it would be an amazing experience and line on a resume. Also the connections that you make would be amazing for you in the future. I will definitely be thinking about trying for this internship.
