Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre to celebrate Anton Chekhov’s work

TribLIVE: Andrew S. Paul considers Anton Chekhov his favorite playwright. “He’s the most important playwright after Shakespeare,” says Paul, producing artistic director for Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre “He is the only playwright able to write plays with the depth, characters and breadth of novels. You see a production of ‘Three Sisters’ and you feel like you just read a 600-page novel. His unbelievable grasp of the human condition is the thing he shares with Shakespeare. ... People think he’s long and boring. I find (his plays) fascinating — full of insights into human nature.”
