California Closer to State Table Saw Regulations

Popular Woodworking Magazine: Last week, AB 2218 was approved by a state senate committee and will likely be voted on in early August. Only one manufacturer, SawStop, makes a saw that would comply with the rule at this time. As with the proposed federal rule, the proposed California law was introduced as a result of lobbying efforts by the owner of SawStop

Being a native Californian, and a woodworker, this excites me very much. My wood shop teacher was always hesitant to let us use the table saw, and because of this new technology and possible law, the students will have a better experience with the tools and be bale to make more with the skills required for the table saw. I hope that this law is passed and that the shop I work in will be able to purchase a new table saw with these features.
