'Spider-Man' Producers File Nasty Countersuit Against Julie Taymor

Hollywood Reporter: In a filing today in New York federal court, Michael Cohl's 8 Legged Productions alleges that Taymor failed to live up to her obligations by declaring that "she could not and would not do that she was contracted to do, thereby causing significant unneccessary expense, delay and other harm."

First of all, I can't believe the Spider-Man drama is still dragging on!! Second, why didn't the producers come forward with these claims a long time ago?? The fact that they are just now taking this action makes them seem less trustworthy. I guess I don't know much about how producer-director relationships work in an original Broadway production setting, but it seems as though the producers could have said no to Taymor's changes to the story-line and themes before she got so carried away. And if telling her no didn't work and she started doing such expensive damage, couldn't they have fired her earlier? If their allegations are true, it certainly seems that Taymor became a bit of a dictator and deserves some backlash. But she was allowed to continue working and I do still think that she should be compensated for any work of her own that is still in the show. I am intrigued to see how the courts will handle this, because it seems like a whole lot of he-said, she-said.
