Conference peers 20 years into Broadway's future

Yahoo! News: What will Broadway be like in 20 years?
Will people still come to see shows in 2032? Will actors still be performing live? Will Times Square still be the crossroads of the world? Will "The Phantom of the Opera" still be open?
Those and many other questions will likely be mulled over Monday at the inaugural TEDxBroadway, a one-day conference bringing together producers, marketers, entrepreneurs, economists and artists. All will try to imagine what Broadway will be like in two decades.

This is by far the most thought provoking article posted on this blog. Upon thinking of where this industry may be headed, there are countless of possibilities. Like the article stated, the new technology creates and ever expanding medium for producing shows. And while this expanding technology may create better 2-D entertainment, the point made that it only makes the theater more valuable is a true statement. No matter what technology is created, nothing can create the same atmosphere that live theater creates. I also believe that looking this far into the future is an interesting idea because this forces you to take a step back and see where you've been and what truly can be accomplished.
