Quantum Theatre stages Graham Greene's sexy drama, 'The End of the Affair,' in Polish Hill

Post Gazette: Graham Greene's novel "The End of the Affair" has been channeled into two movies, the latest in 1999 with Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore steaming up the screen. Now it's Quantum Theatre's turn to bring the heat, in Karla Boos' stage adaptation of the wartime romance.

I love to hear about the next Quantum show I have seen a few of there shows. Every time I see their shows I think of theater in a different way and how people can tell the same shows story in many different ways. I wish there were more theater groups like Quantum using found spaces in a theatrical way. I would like to see a group like this one in every city. I know that the group of people that go see these shows are very small. It would be great if more of the traditional theater goers would come out for this type of theater then there could be more of these type of shows and maybe make this a bigger part of theatre. I hope Quantum the best with this current show.

I'm intrigued to see this one less from the found-spaces angle and more from the descriptions of the adaptation process here in the article. The space appears to actually be rather conventional this time, and all the effort usually spent trying to work out the logistics of toilets and electricity was able to be routed directly into the adaptation and rehearsals with the cast. There's also something to say for the artistic director and director working together as the adapters - invariably, the two of them are so knowledgeable about the project and passionate about the subject matter that the company's whole heart and soul will be put behind this production. While audiences are relatively smaller for the outdoor venues and warehouses (like Giles' last project with the theatre, When the Rain Stops Falling), I think the interior venue with amenities and the marketing presence in universities and local area businesses will be a benefit to this production over previous shows.
