Paul Taylor company dances to the beat of its founder

Post Gazette: Paul Taylor didn't just help ignite the movement of American modern dance. Since the 1950s, he has kept it burning with choreography that colors outside the lines of classical movement (while still respecting its technical pillars) and isn't afraid to thrust to center stage touchy topics such as rape, war and religion.

Modern dance is always such a treat to watch, because though I love the ballet, modern is constantly innovative, almost intrinsically so, because it's the purest physical expression of music there is. If one were to hear movement in a piece of music, it would most often manifest itself in modern dance. Each piece of music does not have a pre-defined style or type as ballet and even ballroom possess. I look forward to hearing more about this production!
