TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – The Glimmerglass Festival, located in Cooperstown, New York, invites applications for the 2011 season. Glimmerglass presents four new productions in rotating rep during July and August in a 900-seat proscenium, non-union house and seeks a seasonal Technical Director. Responsible for hiring and supervising seasonal staff for all scenery departments; also must collaborate with Scenic Designers, meet materials/labor budgets, maintain stock and facilitate rentals. With ATD, Lead Rigger and Stage Operations Manager, organize build/stage schedules, create technical drawings, supervise technical rehearsals and create archival records. Scenery is built in-house and at contract shops. Applicants should have strong knowledge of scenic construction and rigging, and strong leadership and communication skills. Previous repertory experience preferred. Commitment to safe work habits and shop practices is essential. Part-time, off-site involvement beginning in January; in residence in Cooperstown from April 30 through September 1; housing provided; own car recommended.
