Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (SCPA) seeks a full-time Technical Director responsible for leading, managing and overseeing the Technical department of SCPA, including but not limited to: preparation of stage/theater facilities, ensuring appropriate resources are assigned to execute performing arts and rental events at the highest level of quality and service to SCPA stakeholders, with emphasis on insuring the operational readiness of all major technical systems.

Responsible for developing/maintaining a high quality technical staff program. safety and maintenance policies and procedures, training for technical staff, effective communication and quality advance work. Evaluates and processes technical riders with eye for feasibility of performance and budget impact. Budget creation and management. Develops long range plans for facility leadership/management of professional and high quality operation of the SCPA technical department Supervises/coordinates the setup of all sound systems, stage lighting and theatrical equipment and the design and execution of in-house produced events/presentations.

Bachelor’s degree in technical theater or theater with emphasis in technical theater, minimum five years experience as a technical director at a professional level, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of set-up and operation of stage sound, lighting and rigging systems required. Knowledge of safe stage management practices and techniques required. Demonstrated leadership and/or management required. Ability to communicate professionally. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand on feet for long time periods. Must be able to negotiate stairs. catwalks up to 45 feet above ground. Flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings and weekends required. Current CPR and AED certification required. Current ETCP Rigger-Theater and Entertainment Electrician certification highly preferred.
