'Mamma Mia!' gets them dancing in the aisles

Post Gazette: "A large group of people danced without inhibition and sang ABBA hits at the Tuesday night opening performance of 'Mamma Mia!' in Heinz Hall, Downtown. The audience. On stage, there was even more exuberance as the hugely successful show opened for its latest run through Pittsburgh, presented by PNC Broadway Across America.

I love this show. Ive seen it twice, have not seen the movie and I do not care that it is a silly story with not much point. The article says it best with; 'a chance for the actors and the audience to bask in the glory that was Swedish pop group ABBA, with songs that beg for people to sing and dance along'. Its a fun time and I like that it has and is still enjoying such a long run. It makes me happy because it was show pretty much written to showcase this music and its pretty good. I hope that people continue to enjoy this show, and who knows maybe Ill go see it this weekend.

I forget how Mamma Mia! has been touring but with what the show deliveries for the audience I am not surprised. The show is just fun loving and all about the audience having a good time and reliving the music. It is always nice to hear about shows that put the audience into such a good mood that they start singing and dancing.

This show is very fun to watch. I bet that it was fun to watch when it first came out because all of the ABBA fans came to the shows, and I would assume doing the touring show would lead to the same effect because now ABBA fans from all over the country can now see it. Mama Mia is purely fun and commercial but I think that that is what most people want when they go to the theater; they don't want to be assaulted by scandal and weird artsy shit. But also no matter how cheesy any show is if people are standing in the audience, singing and dancing along then they are having fun, and that is good!
