OT: Manage Your Funnels

Strobist: "As photographers, we are more likely to be hired as creatives than to hire a creative. But recently I was involved in choosing a print designer, a video production house and an illustrator.
Seeing the different paths that lead us to each of these people was a little like having an out-of-body experience. It was a cool look into the other side of the equation, and one that left me with a better understanding of marketing my own services as a photographer.
Three funnels you should not discount, inside.

This article brings up some very interesting points about getting your name out there. It's a little different from the conventional wisdom on finding a job, but then, the world is becoming more unconventional. I especially like the emphasis on contributing to your community and getting credit for your work, both of which we often choose to do (or choose not to do) for very different reasons. We choose to support charities because it makes us feel good, but it can also reflect on our career and personality for potential clients/employers. Likewise, we want credit for our work because it builds our resume, but don't always think about clients seeing our work and getting to know us. These are both good things to keep in mind as many of us look at freelance careers.
